Abstract

The objective of this research project is update and improve the Atlas of the Brazilian Agrarian Question focusing on mapping and analyzing the peasant agriculture in the state of São Paulo. The theoretical basis of this work has as reference the approach of the countryside from the agrarian question by geography, considering the problems in rural world caused by the development of capitalism. Thus, will be mapped and analyzed various topics of the agrarian question nationally, contextualizing the state of São Paulo and then we will proceed with a specific analysis of peasant agriculture in the state, including the recent changes from the territorialization of this sector in western São Paulo. The methodological procedures are mainly mapping and exploratory data analysis, exploratory field work and readings. With this we hope to identify and analyze the characteristics of the São Paulo peasant agriculture, its importance in the current agrarian structure and its recent transformations.
