The implants platform switching concept (PSW) and Morse taper have been associated with a lower rate of peri-implant bone loss when compared to regular diameter implants. However, the literature is scarce in biomechanical studies analyzing the effect of reducing the implant-supported prosthesis platform and its consequences for the biomechanics of the screw and prosthetic abutment of the prosthesis. Thus, the purpose of this study is to evaluate, using the methodology of three-dimensional finite element analysis, the stress distribution in the structures associated with the PSW and Morse taper implant-supported prostheses in order to obtain data on the biomechanical effect of stress distribution in these structures. Four three-dimensional models will be developed simulating a prosthesis on implants in the molar region (mandibular) with the following specifications: 1) external hexagon implant, 4 x 10 mm, regular platform; 2) external hexagon implant, 5 x 10 mm, regular platform; 3) external hexagon implant, 5 x 10, platform switching; 4) Morse taper implant, 5 x 10 mm. The modeling will be performed from CT scans processed with processing InVesalius software, followed by refinement in Rhinoceros 4.0 and SolidWorks 2011 software. Then, the models will be exported to the finite element program FEMAP 11.0 for the mesh configuration; model constraints and loading will be axially (0°) with 200N and 100N obliquely at 45º. The models will be processed with Nastram software and imported again in FEMAP software to obtain the von Mises stress maps for qualitative analysis. In addition to the qualitative analysis, the data will be tabulated and statistical analysis will be performed considering p <0.05.
