We propose a systematic study of several important topics in Mathematics and Physics, culminating in the calculation of the quasinormal modes of a Schwarzschild black hole through the method of continued fractions. The research plan includes, initially, the study of complex functions, power series and the Frobenius method. Following that, the student will be introduced to the theory of General Relativity, including the Schwarzschild metric and its scalar wave equation. At the last stage of the project, the student will learn about the quasinormal modes of a black hole and the continued fraction method, which will be implemented computationally in order to determine the quasinormal frequencies of the Schwarzschild black hole.
