Abstract

The main objective in this project is the study of necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for calculus of variations problems. The problems will be treated from the basic formulation until the constrained case. Equality and inequality constraints involving temporal and state (and its derivative) variables will be considered. The study will be conduced in the non-smooth context, we will work with non-smooth extremals and lagrangians. The sufficient conditions to be analyzed are those involving convexity and generalized convexity. The question of the existence and regularity of solutions will be investigated. (AU)
