Abstract

This Project of Research, registered under French tradition of discourse analysis of enunciative base, mobilizes a theoretical model proposed by the linguist Dominique Maingueneau (2007, 2012) to analyze editing processes, focusing on the construction of characters such as creating discursive ethos. The material constituting the corpus brings together ten books of SNOOPY collection, which come from the long history of the comic strip Peanuts newspaper, written and drawn by the American cartoonist Charles Schulz (1922-2000). These strips Schulz, will focus at first the character Peppermint Patty, as the linguistic material connected to this character shows curiosities regarding the editing process, which affects the discursive ethos that identifies the passage of the original to the Brazilian translation. This is to address a problem of editorial mediation. Therefore, we will consider issues such as the relationship between comics and comic strips, which will be explained during the research. So, the working hypothesis can be stated: the linguistic study of editorial objects requires addressing the application supports and the place of circulation, defined as conditions of production of meaning, recording that the editorial genetic rites is a work of the discursive order.
