Abstract

The blood pressure and left ventricular mass are physiologic factors associated with cardiovascular health. Pathways such as B2 bradykinin-receptor and alpha-adrenergic receptors play an important role in cardiovascular function and genetic variants of these pathways may impact blood pressure responses and left ventricular mass. We hypothesized that polymorphisms in genes of B2 bradykinin-receptor and alpha-adrenergic receptors may modulate blood pressure and left ventricular mass in individuals without overt heart disease. Methods: the study participants were enrolled from the Project "Saúde cardiovascular em pacientes ambulatoriais" (CAPPesq-HCFMUSP nº 852/03). The participants underwent clinical examination to determine blood pressure, a transthoracic echocardiogram to estimate the left ventricular mass and genotyping of the polymorphisms BDKB2R +9/-9, ADRA1A Arg347Cys e ADRA2A 1780 C>T. We plan to performing statistical analysis with multiple linear regression models.
