Abstract

Some activities will be developed along with the ALICE (A Large Heavy Ion Collider) group collaborator of the Universidade de São Paulo. This group is one of the main responsible for the heavy quarks studies in ALICE and is responsible for the upgrade of ALICE, especially with the SAMPA chip project. The proposed studies are related with the finalisation of the results of the charmed baryon (Lambdac) in ALICE and the study of heavy-flavour electron-electron correlations. The former is very important in Pb-Pb collisions, for the correlation function is sensitive to the collective behaviour of quarks in the low momentum region and it is a good probe of heavy-quark jet effects in the medium. The latter is important since it can be used in order to understand the hadronisation mechanisms that appear in the charm sector. These studies complement the heavy quark studies performed by the candidate both in his doctorate (study of charmonium) and his postdoctoral work in Liverpool (charmed baryons). Some activities concerning the SAMPA chip will be also presented. It is proposed to participate at the data taking of the radiation tolerance tests of the chip, along with the implementation of the specific software of the chip in the framework of ALICE and some studies regarding the SAMPA chip behaviour in simulation. These tasks are important not only for the future of ALICE, but also for they complement the studies already performed during by this candidate's postdoctoral work in Liverpool. They consisted of the study of charmed baryons with the ALICE upgrade. (AU)
