Comparison of the effect of low-level laser therapy and Diclofenac on morphological aspects in an experimental model of skeletal muscle trauma in diabetic rats.

Abstract

Aerobic exercise and resistance has been prescribed for the prevention and treatment of patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) due to the improvement in glucose control and reduction of other risk factors. Traumatic muscle injuries are directly related to physical activity, which may cause Morphological changes in muscle repair. Different types of therapies, pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches have been used in the treatment and recovery of musculoskeletal injuries, such as anti-inflammatory drugs and low level laser therapy. However the process of morphological recovery after injury in the course of diabetes remains unknown. The aim of this work is to study the morphological aspects recovery of skeletal muscle trauma induced in Wistar rats with diabetes compared to no diabetics. A single trauma will performed employing a mini guillotine, comprising a block weight of 200g that will drop from 20cm on the right posterior limb. Induction of diabetes is by intraperitoneal administration of streptozotocin (STZ) at a concentration of 50 mg / kg body weight. Irradiation with Laser will be held at only one point in the area of trauma, after injury protocol, with dose of 3 J per 30s. Diclofenac is applied one hour after injury protocol at a dose of 6.11 mg g -1 (milligram gram) topically. histological analysis of muscle tissue will perform at 12, 24 and 48h after trauma.
