The Leite Lopes Airport's expansion project and the João Pessoa community: the social and political dynamics and the right of adequate housing realization

Abstract

The main purpose of this exposition is to present the undergraduate scientific research The Leite Lopes Airport's expansion project and the João Pessoa community: the social and political dynamics and the the right of adequate housing realization, from a brief theorical discussion, which intends to guide the analysis of this research, still in an initial phase. These considerations result from the experience on the People's Legal Consultancy Nucleus of Ribeirão Preto (NAJURP-FDRP/USP), in university people's legal consultancy to the inhabitants of the urban settlement more narrowly situated to the airport site, bearing in mind the advocacy to the right of adequate housing, from de perspective of fulfilling the right to the city. With this research, the idea is to analyze the relation between the João Pessoa favela community inhabitants and the Municipal Public Authorities, in the context of the Leite Lopes Airport expansion/internationalization campaign in the city of Ribeirão Preto-SP.
