Contribution to socio-spatial inclusion of the elderly: relationships neighborliness between residents of a housing project for seniors and surrounding

Abstract

The populational aging process provides transformations, burdens and social and spatial demands. In this scenario, the elderly, family, society and State tend to rethink practices, politics and actions to dignified aging. The neighbor relations become a determinant factor to the formation of new bonds and social and spatial inclusion. The study objective is to analyse the neighbor relations stablished between the inhabitants of a housing nucleus for elderly people and the inhabitants of the surrounding areas. It is a descriptive transversal study, based on the assumptions of the quantiqualitative investigation method, by performing of semi-structured interviews with the outside neighbors. The results intend to contribute to social and spatial inclusion of the elderly in the community, starting from the relations with the outside neighbors.
