Abstract

Multicenter project to be developed in Brazil and Portugal with the general objective of measuring the quality of life of the patients using the intermittent urinary catheterization with neurogenic bladder in rehabilitation process and measure the quality of life of their caregivers. The specific objectives: 1) to identify the scientific evidence through systematic review of the literature on QOL of patients with neurogenic bladder users of intermittent urinary catheters and their caregivers; 2) to perform the sociodemographic and clinical characterization of these patients; 3) characterize sociodemographic their caregivers; 4) to measure the quality of life of patients and caregivers characterized; 5) to compare the quality of life of patients and caregivers Brazilian and Portuguese. Upon authorization by research ethics committee, the collect data will be held in Brazil in a rehabilitation service in the state of São Paulo, with all the patients using the intermittent urinary catheterization, and in Portugal, a rehabilitation center of the Hospital Rovisco Pais, with all the patients using the intermittent urinary catheterization. For obtaining the data will be used two data collection instruments, a questionnaire on sociodemographic and clinical data and scale World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) has translated and validated in Brazil and Portugal. Will be included in the study all patients older than 18 years diagnosed with neurogenic bladder, using urinary catheters intermittent, registered in the service, and their caregivers. Informed Consent Term will be used in this research. The data will be coded and entered into spreadsheets using Excel and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the use of parametric tests and not parametric with using SPSS, version 11.5 (Windows). The analysis of the WHOQOL-BREF, will be held by the original analysis. The discussion of the results of the research will be carried out with basis in the literature review, relevant to the proposed objectives (AU)
