Expansion and strengthening of international scientific network in vibrations and acoustics

Abstract

The aim of this research proposal is to expand and strengthen an international scientific network in vibrations and acoustics. The general objective of this scientific network is to create and develop institutional partnerships in engineering research areas and in particular with regard to the fields of acoustics and vibration, promoting international exchange of graduate students, researchers and faculties to develop collaborative research. This scientific network is already running for some time and includes current partners in Brazil (FEM-Unicamp), France (ENSIM-Université du Maine and ENSMM-Engineering School) and United Kingdom (College of Engineering - Swansea University). The objective now is to strengthen the network with the current partners and to expand it to include new potential partners. Partners recently invited to participate includes INSA Centre Val de Loire (FR) and University of London (UK). The actions and strategies to expand and to strengthen the network are: 1) Visit (3 months) to the network partner ENSIM-UM to discuss new research ideas in acoustic of musical instruments and vibroacoustics; to begin a new collaborative research work in elastic and acoustic metamaterials; to evaluate work progress of current cotutelle PhD program; and propose future faculty, post-doc, cotutelle & sandwich PhD exchange programs. 2) Short visits (1 to 3 days) to others current and new partners to discuss convergent and concurrent collaborative research subjects and propose future faculty, post-doc, cotutelle & sandwich PhD exchange programs.
