Oils and fats, both animal and vegetable sources, have an important role as inputs in several areas. The knowledge of their physical properties allows enhance the processes of purification by liquid-liquid extraction and the process of obtaining vegetable oils from solid matrices by solid-liquid extraction. For mixtures containing fatty esters, compiling a database of viscosity can be useful for projection equipment in processes involving the production of biodiesel. Due to the large number of variables that can affect the process, data acquisition in all conditions of interest is not viable and methods for estimating these properties are of great practical importance. This PhD project aims to broaden the database of viscosity and density of mixtures containing fatty compounds and alcoholic solvents or hexane at different compositions and temperatures. The data will be complementary to the literature forming a bank that will be used to obtain new parameters of the model UNIFAC-VISCO. The parameters obtained are used to predict the viscosity of real systems, such as methyl biodiesels and blends formed by vegetable oils, fatty acids and solvents, whose data will not be part of the database used in the modeling. Predictive tests will also be conducted with GC- UNIMOD models (for viscosity) and GCVOL (for density). In addition to density and viscosity data, surface tension data for the mixtures studied, which will be correlated by the model proposed by Chunxi et al will be obtained. The excess molar volume and activity coefficient of the mixtures will be calculated and, considering that these data are related to non- ideality of mixtures, a correlation between them will be proposed.
