Abstract

In-line liquid-liquid or solid phase extractions have been often exploited, as demonstrated by the increasing number of proposals of different strategies for analyte separation and/or concentration in diverse matrices. These strategies can be influenced by variations in temperature and pressure, but influence of these parameters in the extractive processes carried out in flow systems has been scarcely investigated. Thus, studies on the influence of hydrodynamic pressure and temperature on the performance of flow analysis systems involving LLE or SPE will be carried out. The spectrophotometric determinations of carbaryl in natural waters and copper in plant materials, involving LLE or C18 resin SPE exploiting formations of indophenol blue or Cu-neocuproine complex were selected as models for this investigation. Other parameters such as e.g. flow rates, reagent concentrations, manifold geometry, flow pattern (constant or pulsed) will be also dimensioned aiming at the improvement of the analytical figures of merit. The proposal is original and will constitute itself in a positive factor towards the development and application of flow analysis.
