This work has as main objective to carry out various researches in the field of Non-Diffracting Waves mainly the theoretical analysis and the practical possibility of using non-diffracting optical pulses in optical communication systems without fiber (free space optics, FSO). In this context the following topics will be developed: 1. Study of the effects of spatial truncation made in ideal non-diffracting optical pulses, obtained through different signal modulation techniques (OOK, transmission multisymbols by bit, among others), to verify the possibility of generation and use of non-diffracting optical pulses in FSO systems. 2. Study of the impact of atmospheric attenuation on FSO links made with non-diffracting pulses to verify the possibility of using the optical pulses resistant to diffraction and attenuation. 3. Experimental generation of non-diffracting optical beams and pulses. The basic methodology of our research will be based on some works performed by the supervisor and his group, besides another existing literatures. The topics treated in this project are within of the areas of optical telecommunications, thus its future results could open new and exciting possibilities in the growing field of optical communications in space.
