Abstract

Human herpesviruses compose an important causer group of infections in transplant patients and imunocompromised patients in general. This group is formed by three subfamilies: ±-herpesvirinae, ²-herpesvirinae e a ³-herpesvirinae which include the Simplex Human Herpesviruses type 1 and 2 (HSV-1 and HSV-2), Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV or HHV-3), Epstein-Barr (EBV or HHV-4), Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV or HHV-5), Human Herpesviruses type 6 (HHV-6), Human Herpesviruses type 7 (HHV-7) and the Human Herpesviruses type 8 (HHV-8) whereas infections caused by each species and the clinics manifestations presents are unique and establish with post-transplant period. Actually, molecular methods to detection and quantification of infectious agents are being deployed in routine to minimize the consequences and avoid possible clinical manifestations of these herpesviruses, providing an early treatment with appropriate antiviral (preemptive therapy). In the present study will be used the Consensus-Degenerate Hybrid Oligonucleotide Primer (CODEHOP) technique, which was developed for detection and identification of three known herpsvirinae subfamilies, with high specificity and sensitivity and Nested-PCR technique with specifics primers for each studied herpesviruses. Plasma samples used will be obtained from the day of transplantation until day +100 after transplantation of 100 HSCT patients, collected weekly. Main objective is to perform a comparative analysis between the two methodologies evaluating the sensitivity and functionality in the implementation of the same in routine tests to aid in the care of patients with the diagnosis of these viruses.
