The application of NO donors in biological (or biochemical) studies include particular events such as (i) drug uptake by the cells, (ii) interaction with biomolecules, (iii) localization, (iv) stability of the complexes, (v) lipids stability and more. Ruthenium complexes able to donor NO and to generate singlet oxygen has been synthetized by group of Dr. Roberto Santana da Silva, Brazilian supervisor of the present proposal. In this proposal will present the application of a combination of techniques: infrared spectroscopy with confocal fluorescence microscopy - microFT-IR - and the application of metallocomplexes in biological/biochemical cell studies. This high sensitivity and particular specificity technique, microFT-IR, is a modern alternative to work free of chemical markers and is non-destructive for cells and tissues. Dr. Fabio Zobi, have expertise in both microFT-IR and metallocomplexes synthesis and agreed collaborate with Dr. Roberto group. (AU)
