Access to diagnosis and treatment of Breast Cancer in the city of Campinas-SP between 2009 to 2011

Abstract

The breast cancer is the second cause of death between the southwest women, including Campinas County - São Paulo - Brazil. It consists in a public health problem and one time known; it would subsidize improvements on health managements. Among three years, 2004 - 2007, there was a project called PIBIC which had analysed the essential breast cancer of women who lived in Campinas; they were all diagnosed between 2000 and 2002. The study indicated that approximately twenty five per cent of women had that type of cancer and, as a result of it they were gave in into radical and mutilators treatments. Although, these newer study has the aim to know the essential trajectory of women who were diagnosed with breast cancer between the years 2009 to 2011. It was all made inside UNICAMP, indeed at CAISM. Furthermore, all the information collected in the study was used to update the oldest one. Does this new study will identify any type of changes on health system capacity? And as a consequence, does it will provide a better treatment of breast cancer, so it will increase cure and survival chances? Risk factors, reproductive life, diagnose access, treatment and its pursuance will be also evaluated and compared with the oldest study. Taking into account, patients records will be analysed so after that, necessary information could be taken. Therefore, the storage and data treatments will be used for EpiInfo program - version 7.0.9.7 - and placed on statistics analysis. It is expected that this new study would help the implementation of actions that could improve the assistance quality to women, so it enable that diagnoses come faster, ergo increasing chances of cure.
