Abstract

It is suggested that increased cortical activity induced by brain stimulation, associated or not with other physiotherapy techniques, could potentiate the therapeutic effects in patients engines and functional. Objectives: To assess the immediate effects of a session of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) over the anode primary motor cortex associated with the use of Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) on the electrical activity of the tibialis anterior muscle, balance and pressure distribution planting of patients with hemiparesis due to Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA). Besides checking the effects obtained with the combination of the two techniques are superior to those identified with the techniques applied in isolation. Methods: A randomized, double-blind cross-sectional study, crossover. 30 individuals with hemiparesis due to stroke, which fit the inclusion criteria will be assessed. Reviews: identification record, electromyography (EMG) of the tibialis anterior, static balance and cognitive task by double stabilometry, plantar pressure by baropodometry, evaluation of the sural triceps muscle spasticity (modified Ashworth scale). The effect size (confidence interval 95%) will be calculated by the difference between the means of pre-and post-intervention. The analysis of the immediate effects of tDCS is by paired Student T test or Wilcoxon test, for parametric and nonparametric variables, respectively.
