Abstract

Introduction: the auditory processing is associated with efficiency and effectiveness with which the central nervous system uses the information received by the sense of hearing. When a failure occurs in this process, there is possibility of Auditory Processing Disorder (APD). There are several approaches to the treatment of APD, and most programs include the Auditory Training (AT), which is capable of facilitating cerebral cortical plasticity and a possible reorganization. Besides the evidence that AT is effective in rehabilitation of APD, an assessment of the subject is required. A self-assessment questionnaire that could verify how the patient appreciated the proposed activities could help the professional to constantly improve your AT program, combining objective opinion to the patient so that treatment becomes more pleasurable. Objective: to investigate the efficacy of three self-assessment questionnaires, one of them with pre and post application formal auditory training and the other two, only after completing formal auditory training. Method: participate in this study 30 subjects of both genders, aged 8-59 years old. Inclusion criteria are normal peripheral hearing, diagnosis of auditory processing disorder confirmed, indicating the AT in a soundproof booth. It will not be taken into account the type and degree of auditory processing disorder. Exclusion criteria are syndromes of any kind, psychological, psychiatric and cognitive disorders. It will be held from formal auditory training program in nine sessions that utilize special hearing tests presented in progressively adverse listening conditions. The first session of auditory training, subjects will underwent the questionnaire Auditory Behavior Scale - SAB (Nunes et al, 2013). The behavioral reassessment session, the subjects will answer the self-assessment questionnaires: Questionnaire post Auditory Formal Training (Gil, Ziliotto, 2011), Post-training Exit Questionnaire (Tye-Murray et al., 2012) and again the Scale Auditory Behavior - SAB (Nunes 2013). The questionnaires will be applied through interviews, and the researcher will note and record the answers. After collecting the data, the results will be analyzed and submitted to statistical analysis. (AU)
