Contemporary society is commonly called "oblivion society". This society is characterized by the easy and fast access to information. This access impacts the hability to select memories, turning it into confused remembrances. Memory - historical, individual, collective or deep - is a rich way to save facts and events of the past and transmit them to future generations. Reconstructing memories can be an effective way to bring community together, to evoke its feeling of belonging to a place where they live and to enable planning future actions. Therefore, this research aims to reconstructs the history of the Nossa Senhora da Escada Chapel based on a history of psychological knowledge perspective. It focuses specifically on the psychosocial impacts of this place for the neighborhood's community. This Chapel is located in the city of Salvador, Bahia, specifically at Escada's neighborhood, Suburbs Rail Salvador. The Chapel was founded in the 16th century and it can be a rich subject to reconstructs historical relationships with the people who live there. The methodological steps include collecting, organizing, interpreting and analyzing primary and secondary sources related to the Nossa Senhora da Escada Chapel and the Escada's neighborhood. Thus, it is estimated to contribute to the reconstruction of the history and preservation of memory, based on a historical perspective. (AU)
