The constant advances of constituting materials, manufacturing techniques and structural setting-up of structures result in lighter and slender structures. This reality is most important when aeronautical structures are considered, as they must, by nature, be light. From this reasoning the numerical description of structural dynamics and the geometrical non-linear analysis is always an important subject. Therefore, this project intends to introduce an undergraduate student (aeronautical engineering) in subjects related to the development of computational codes based on positional FEM to the analysis on non-linear dynamics of plane and three-dimensional trusses. The computational developments will be made in MATLAB®, as the student has experience with. The developed code will be employed to solve various examples introducing pendulum dumpers. From these examples we expect the student develops his skills regarding linear and non-linear dynamic analysis of structures. In this way, from the three basic lines of the project: theoretical studies to general qualification, implementation of computational codes and validation tests, we expect to contribute with the knowledge of the student. Moreover, a research paper will be written and published and the resulting computational code will be put at disposition for further works. (AU)
