The aim of this project is to develop a new product that could be the basis for prevention and control of demineralization of tooth enamel on critical pH (<5,5). This study will involve the encapsulation of salivary proteins (histatin, statherin and a peptide derivate from statherin, called DR-9) and in the preparation and development of a bandage based hydrophilic polymer cellulose derivative with these salivary proteins encapsulated incorporated. Tests related to physical and chemical structure of the banding will be conducted. The techniques used for the analyses will be MTT, RT-PCR and ELISA. The data will be adequately described by means of graphs and tables being used ANOVA test, followed by Tukey test. If necessary, other tests may be applied. Significance level of 5% will be adopted so that the differences are considered statistically significant. (AU)
