Abstract

The research analyses the production of spaces and landscapes Parahyba Valley in the nineteenth century, from its connections with the Brazilian Imperial State and the world economy. Reflections on Global History and systemic perspectives serve to the theoretical and analytical framework of the object. On the other hand, the theoretical and methodological basis of Pierre Bourdieu will be used for the analysis of processes of collective identities formation in this society, with the purpose of understanding the processes of social domination and articulation of local groups with instances of central power in the Imperial State .
