Abstract Natural products, when used as herbicide, destroy the vegetal tissues by contact action, featuring quickly action and some cases, require less half an hour for the target plant becomes vulnerable to these compounds. The use of natural products as prototypes for finding of herbicides is an area which is being operated slowly, perhaps by small number of researchers in the area, fault jobs in biotechnology to produce natural herbicides, or same lack of essay that allow to know the mechanism of action of metabolites. In this propose will studied the phytotoxic potential of substances produced and isolated from root of plants presents in the mining area of region of Mina do Sossego - Canaã dos Carajás - PA. The principal objective will be the attainment of models for new natural herbicides that can patent and with possibility of opening new business prospects. Some reports show which metals present in the soil may alter the metabolism of plants, increasing or decreasing the phytotoxic potential of root exudates, should be the subject of study. The substances isolated will be submitted a series of enzymatic reactions to clarify their mechanisms of action against the photosynthesis in spinach chloroplasts and those with herbicide potential for application in field should suffer structural modification and/or formulation for use.
