Abstract

This project discusses the construction of the word in the theatre plays of the swiss Valère Novarina. The analysis of the theatrical text word traditionally refers to the parameters of the likelihood and fiction. On the other hand, the contemporary theatre engage more strongly the staging in order to build soundscapes instead of textual construction. The Novarina's plays builds on the precept that the word should break away from the everyday communication and connect to the corporification of the word in the body of the actor. To account for these perspectives, two aspects will be analyzed in this study: the idea of language games coined by Ludwig Wittgenstein to develop emphasis disjointed word, and the idea of orality developed by Paul Zumthor referring to bodily and physiological notions built on work of Valère Novarina. To this, we dedicate ourselves to the analysis of four plays in the original in french: L'Atelier Volant, Vous qui habitez le temps, L'Inquiètude and L'Animal du Temps. With this project aims to be a new approach concerning the dramaturgical word that in this case, is inextricably both tensioning of ordinary language and as articulator of physiological constructions that evoke the body and the presence in the theatrical text.
