Endodontic materials have to present physicochemical properties according to the standards ISO and ADA. New methodologies can be used for evaluation of materials including Micro Computed Tomography (Micro-CT). The objective of this study is to evaluate the solubility, dimensional change, filling ability, flow and porosity of root-end filling materials; and solubility, dimensional change and porosity of root canal sealers by using conventional tests and similar methodologies using Micro-CT. The root-end filling materials to be evaluated are: white MTA, Portland cement associated with zirconium and Zinc Oxide-Eugenol (ZOE). The sealers to be evaluated: AH Plus, MTA Fillapex and Endofill. The flow test will be conducted according to ISO 6876/2002. The solubility tests and dimensional changes will be evaluated according to modified methods of 6876/2002 ISO standard. The porosity will be assessed by optical light microscopy. The dimensional changes and flow, and the porosity and filling capacity will also be assessed by methods employing Micro-CT. Model will be made of acrylic resin simulating retrocavities 3 mm deep and 1 mm in diameter, which will be used to evaluate the filling capacity and dimensional changes. Another model of retrocavity will be made with two lateral channels 0.2 mm in diameter at the base of the cavity to evaluate the flow. To evaluate the porosity specimens with 4.0 ± 0.1 mm in height and 7 ± 0.1 mm in diameter wil be made. Data from all experiments will be evaluated by the normality test for definition of statistical analysis for comparison between groups of materials and correlation between tests. (AU)
