Abstract

Internet has been used to search information and share experiences in several areas, including those related to women's health, maternity and breastfeeding. In Brazil, specifically related to breastfeeding, there are no studies that investigate the accuracy of information available on the Internet. Objective: To analyze information on breastfeeding available on Portuguese websites based on the scientific evidence for breastfeeding. Method: Cross-sectional and descriptive study. Data will be collected on websites, using the search engine Google with the keywords "breastfeeding" and "breastfeeding". The first 30 results will be saved via the URL (Uniform Resource Locator), and will be selected according to the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. Data collection will consider variables to characterize the websites and their contents. The variable analysis will be based on descriptive statistics. Technical analysis of the websites' contents will be performed using scientific evidence for breastfeeding. Content analysis will also be performed on the websites using an extraction tool developed by Prof. Dr. Solina Richter and researchers Kovacs-Burns and Chaw-Kant. This tool will be adapted to be used with Internet media. This project and the Postdoctoral Program will be supervised by Prof. Dr. Solina Richter, University of Alberta Faculty of Nursing, Canada. For this reason this University was chosen as the Center where the Postdoctoral Program will be fulfilled.
