Abstract

Ambiguities are always present in the interpretation of geophysical data. One way to reduce this unwanted feature is the use of more than one research method in order to obtain a redundancy of information in the studied area. Through the combined inversion of data is possible to make an integrated interpretation of results from different methods. The inversion of the data is made more effective if the methods make use of the same physical property. For electrical resistivity (ER) and inductive electromagnetic (IEM) methods the electrical resistivity is a physical property in common. Thus, the joint inversion will be applied to resistivity and induction profiles in order to obtain higher lateral resolution, since the ER has a smaller radius of investigation and IEM a larger radius. At first, the joint inversion algorithm developed will be tested with synthetic data and then applied to real data. The goal is a more precise characterization and high resolution of the essential parameters of the well: porosity, permeability, saturation and radius research. The proposed methodology can be used in studies of hydrogeology, drilling engineering and mainly applied to drill for oil. (AU)
