Research internship in Portuguese archives for the study of the iron factory Nova Oeiras (Angola, the second half of the Eighteenth Century)

Abstract

This current project of Research Internship Abroad aims to enable the consultation of Portuguese archives and libraries, needed for the doctorate (in progress) in the Graduate Program in Social History of Africa in the State University of Campinas, under the supervision of Professor Silvia Lara. The applicant retains a PhD Scholarship funded by FAPESP, which project titled "Colonial Plans, African experiences: the Village of Nova Oeiras and its iron factory (Angola, the second half of the eighteenth century)" already predicted the request for scholarship BEPE in order to do fundamental research for the development of the doctoral thesis. Only through a research internship in Portugal, will we have access to specific works on our subject, and especially, will we be able to access most of our sources, available only in Portuguese archives. Although the work plan includes research in various collections, we intend for our research to be accepted by the Institute of Tropical Research (IICT), Lisbon, the institution where Professor Luis Frederico Dias Antunes works, renowned researcher in African History, who agreed to be the scientific supervisor during our stay in Portugal.
