Capacity self care, depressive symtoms and anxiety adult and elderly in chronic renal hemodialysis: a study correlational

Abstract

Depression and anxiety are the most common syndromes among patients in dialysis due to numerous psychological pressures and constraints on quality of life imposed by adaptation to the new conditions of the disease. The approach to people with an emphasis on self-care an alternative has been found to stimulate the person and family to actively participate in treatment. The objective of the study is to verify the relationship between the ability of self-care and the level of depressive symptoms and anxiety of adult patients and in the elderly with chronic renal hemodialysis. This is a correlational study, cross-sectional which will be held in a unit Renal Replacement Therapy, with adults (people aged between 18 and 59 years) and elderly (persons aged 60 years or more), CKD patients on hemodialysis. During data collection, the instrument will be used to characterize the subjects, Scale for Anxiety and Depression (HAD) Scale and Self-Care (ASAS-R) hat are filled by individual interviews, after signing the Statement of Informed Consent. It is hoped that this research bring contributions to the advancement of Science, thus enabling expand knowledge about the capacity for self-care and its relation to anxiety and depression in patients with CKD on hemodialysis.
