Abstract

Seed-assisted synthesis of zeolites allow the control and development of zeolitic structures, promotes the crystallization time and also enables the industrial uses of certain zeolites, which are unfeasible due to the complexity of the synthesis and costs of the organic structure directing agents. However, the use of these organic compounds allowed the synthesis of different zeolites of high silicon amount and of new structures. Based on the importance of the topic, this proposal is aimed to study the synthesis of the lamellar zeolite FER and to get into the results of zeolite crystallization in the presence of seeds in substitution to the use of organic compounds. Several structural and surface characterization techniques, such as X ray diffraction, nitrogen physisorption and scanning electron microscopy will be used in order to get into the comprehension of the steps and mechanisms involved in the synthesis of FER zeolites in the presence of seeds.
