Abstract

The Bauru Basin formed from thermo-litostático process occurred after accumulation of almost 2,000 m of basaltic flows of the Serra Geral Formation, that sedimentary basin covers an area of approximately 370,000 km ², being distributed in the central west of the state of São Paulo, parts of the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Goiás, Minas Gerais and Paraná. In that bowl can find many paleosol outcrops, especially in Marilia Formation unit forming the upper part of the Bauru Group whose paleopedogenetic processes can correspond in certain places about 80% of the same composition. Paleosols can be represented by a geological body found in sedimentary successions and corresponds to a buried soil covered by rocks or other newer paleosols able to record environmental conditions that occurred above or just below the surface and their relative changes. This research project aims to make paleoenvironmental reconstruction of the upper portion of the Bauru Group, interpreting the factors that allowed the construction of geological bodies. The sedimentological features and paleopedogenéticas of lithostratigraphic units of the Bauru Group have paleoenvironmental information that may assist in studies of the Upper Cretaceous being possible to infer aspects as paleoprecipitation, paleotemperature, biological communities that lived in such an environment in order to reconstruct the paleoenvironment and do estimates of evolution geological and climate in the South central part of Brazil.
