Abstract

The receptors coupled to the membrane of Plasmodium falciparum, causative agent of Malaria - tropical disease that causes more health problems around the world - are the responsible for transduction of extracellular signals and for the mediation of physiological responses to various stimuli as hormones, small peptides, lipids and ions. Previous studies detected some candidates to serpentine receptors in the genome of P. falciparum, whereas that only the PfSR10 showed homolog in other eukaryotes organisms. So, knowing the importance of membrane receptors in the regulation of several cellular functions, the characterization of this receptor could open new therapeutic possibilities. Thereby, this project have as goal verify the localization of PfSR10 by construction of GFP protein. (AU)
