Abstract

Brazil has the largest mega-diversity on the planet, which is currently undergoing situations of absolute threats in relation to marine and freshwater mainly by degradation and environmental problems, an example of this type of environment is the Batalha River in the municipality of Reginópolis. This river rises in the Serra Jacutinga (Agudos, SP), emptying into the Tietê river. Improper use of soil due to agricultural activities and agricultural practices as incompatible, monoculture reforestation, destruction and reduction of forests, as well as lack of sanitation infrastructure, lack of planning in human activities and industries of the city are responsible for the increase in processes of erosion, pollution, loss of biodiversity and changes in water quality. The Batalha River is responsible for supplying 45% of the population of Bauru. Currently, the parasites were confirmed as important components of biodiversity. However for complete knowledge of the functioning of the biosphere is essential to determine the absolute role of parasites in natural ecosystems, as well as recognize the hotspots for low and high parasite diversity. Therefore, the main objective of this project is to analyze qualitatively and quantitatively the parasite communities of ectoparasites and endoparasites of Astyanax altiparanae (Garutti & Britski, 2000) collected in the Batalha River, municipality of Reginópolis, State of Sao Paulo.(AU)
