Abstract

The first years of life are critical for the prediction of child development, in diverse areas (motor, social, cognitive, linguistic), since in this period the brain is fully developed, considering brain plasticity. At this time, any change when diagnosed, appropriate stimulation will reduce the consequences of this delay promoting better quality of life and future development of the child. It is essential the use of objective, standardized and normalized to review child development tools, which reduces the risk of false negative diagnosis. The objective is to translate, adapt and standardize the Griffiths Mental Development Scale for Brazilians 0-2 years. The study was submitted to the Ethics Committee on Research with Human Beings and awaiting approval. Enter a percentage of children representative of the population that will be set after the relevant statistical study. Participants will typically developing children, of both sexes, aged between 0 and 24 months, recruited through a milk bank and maternity. The family will sign the Terms of free and informed consent and subsequently answer a protocol anamnesis, containing information about the early life of the child. The procedures used will be the application of Observation Communicative Behavior and Denver II Screening Test Development. These procedures are applied to ensure that the participant submit to their typically developing chronological age. Later be applied to Griffiths Mental Development Scale for children 0-2 years. The statistical analysis will follow the criteria of the analysis procedures of each instrument and the data obtained during history taking will be described with values of absolute and relative frequency. By the Association for Research in Infant and Child Development which was founded by Dr Ruth Griffiths and contact was established with the group of tutors Griffiths Scales in Portugal and received permission to translation, adaptation and standardization of Scale on aged 0 to 2 years is copyrighted by the Griffiths Scales and responsible for the accreditation of courses Griffiths entity.
