Abstract This research project aims at the study of fundamental aspects of the infrared QCD sector, such as confinement and dynamical mass generation, in connection with the physics of soft diffractive processes at high energies and meson transition form factors. In the scope of high energy soft diffraction (elastic and dissociative processes) our main focus is on the analysis of pp and \bar{p}p scattering at the LHC at the light of two phenomenological models, namely: (i) the Dynamical Gluon Mass model (DGM) and the (ii) the Bloch-Nordsieck model with resummation of soft-k_{t} gluons. Concurrently, we are going to analyze the behaviour of pion distribution amplitudes in the framework of the quiral symmetry breaking model for QCD. And in doing so, we will be able to examine the momentum transfer dependence of meson transition form factors as well as discussing the recent (controversial) measurements by the collaborations BaBar and Belle .
