Abstract

The wide interest by the aeronautic industry for structural composites is due to specific characteristics of this material as: excellent mechanical properties and low density, together with the great number of researches in the area which evidences it. In particular, there have been a growing demand in the field of hybrid structural composites, that use two or more types of fibers as reinforcement, by the combinations which can made between the fibers and the matrix, resulting in appropriate mechanical properties for each individual project. Moreover, the possibility of the use of different fibers can reduce considerably the cost of the final product. In this research, a hybrid structural composite is processed with a polymeric matrix, glass and carbon fibers, changing the angular arrangement between fibers. From this configuration, flexion fatigue tests are going to be made, in order to extract the materials shelf life when exposed to this mechanical solicitation.
