Abstract

The present research has as goal to develop the design and produce prototypes of furniture using wood residue of Eucalyptus with emphasis on the application of sustainability concepts in design. Assuming that one of the current demands of society refers to the production and responsible consumption of innovative products incorporating sustainability concepts in their life cycle, this project will use renewable materials such as lumber of two eucalyptus species, raw material stemmed from the region where they are produced and the prototypes placed, contributing in this way to a low energy cost of transporting of the material from the source to the end user. From research based in the development of design with emphasis on using local materials and renewable source, and considering the demand for quality furniture for public spaces, the research aims, specifically, to add value to one of the byproducts of wood lumber, targeting to contribute to the improvement of parks and public spaces in general.
