Agroforestry systems are alternative tools for agricultural production that can be assessed under aspects of agroecology. We took our original project about recuperation of degraded areas using cocoa agroforestry systems (AFS-Cocoa) as the starting point; we observed that our data could be analyzed from another perspectives, bringing the focus in environmental services promoted by AFS-Cocoa. Using allometric equations we intend to estimate the biomass and carbon, including data of different land uses (AFS Cocoa, pasture and forest). The results of this proposal can give an important contribution to scientific knowledge and to possibly stimulate politics of carbon market, certification process, and Payments for Environmental Services (PES) for smallholders agricultural good practices in Amazon context. In this context, we aim at a new analytical approach, biomass and carbon storage. (AU)
