Abstract

Introduction: Patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and respiratory arrest due to wall stick in pharynx, present decreased life quality, because of their daytime symptoms, that restrict their social activities. The available studies about life quality aftercare with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) are inconclusive, and little studies have assessed life quality aftercare on speech therapy or another methods that raise the muscle tonus high airway, or a combination of that therapies. Objective: To evaluate speech therapy effects on life quality in woman having OSA using questionnaires. Method: Female patients handbook with (OSA) will be assessed. All the patients have performed myotherapic treatment for three months and they have been assessed before and after treatment through questionnaires about quality life (Funtional Outcomes of Sleep Questionnarie - FOSSQ, World Health Organization Quality of Life - WHOQoL-Bref, and SF-36®), excessive sleep scale (Epworth - ESS), the polysomnography (PSG), speech therapy assessment, proper. Subsequently it will be performed the appropriate statistic analysis. (AU)
