The purpose of this project is to evaluate the process of bone repair in bone/implant interface in rats with induced osteoporosis treated with alendronate and through morphological and immunohistochemical analyzes. Therefore, 30 rats (Rattus norvegicus Albinus, Wistar) with approximately 200 grams each, will be divided in three groups, as follows: Group I (SHAM) consisting of 10 rats underwent sham surgery and were fed with a balanced diet; Group II (OVX ST) consisting of 10 rats underwent bilateral ovariectomy, fed with poor calcium diet (osteoporotic) and without drug treatment; and Group III consisting of 10 rats underwent bilateral ovariectomy, fed with low-calcium diet (osteoporotic) and treated with the drug sodium alendronate. Two implants will be placed in the rats, one in each tibial metaphysis where an implant has usinaded surface and the other one with the implant surface treated with double acid attack. After implant placement, in the periods of 14 and 42 days, will be held euthanasia by anesthetic overdose. Five rats of each group will be sacrificed at 14 days and the remainder after 42 days. For morphological analysis of the obtained slides, will be performed by hematoxylin and eosin coloration (for assessment of tissue cytoarchitecture) and evaluation of immunolocalization for alkaline phosphatase, RUNX2 proteins, osteocalcin and osteopontin, characterizing the osteoplastic phenotype of bone tissue formed during osseointegration. Immunolocalization is evaluated by assigning scores to be tabulated for comparative evaluation of groups and experimental periods. All data will be submitted to the normal curve to determine the most appropriate test (parametric versus nonparametric). The significance level of 0.05 is used for all tests.
