Abstract

It is important to provide oral health dental restorative materials with antibacterial activity and thus prevent the harmful effects caused by oral bacteria. Therefore, numerous attempts to produce devices and dental restorative materials that exhibit antimicrobial activity have been conducted. A viable alternative has been the use of certain bioactive ceramics, as is the case Biosilicate®. Biosilicato® is a national ceramic high bioactivity and presenting appropriate properties to assist the processes of maintaining oral health. This study aims to evaluate the antibacterial activity against aerobic bacteria Biosilicate®, microaerophilic and anaerobic oral potentially pathogenic. Will be developed using the new formulations Biosilicate® containing metals with biological actions, presenting some advantages over the process originally established, especially with regard to industrial scale production. The antibacterial activity will be performed by the agar microdilution method for determination of Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC), antibacterial tests will be the technique of direct contact and antibiofilm activity. The result of this project will enhance the studies contributing to the launch of new products on the market for use in dentistry and even in medicine. Thus the development of this project will promote a better quality of oral health of a large portion of the population.
