Abstract

Direct-developing frogs have undergone significant changes in their systematics. These changes are mainly due to limited taxon sampling, characters and preferences for a type of evidence in analysis (morphological or molecular). Terrarana currently consists of 989 species in four families (Brachycephalidae, Ceuthomantidae, Craugastoridae, Eleutherodactylidae), where the family Craugastoridae represents 73% of this diversity. The Family Craugastoridae includes four subfamilies, 19 genera and a large number of groups below the general level (series of species and groups of species). These groups have been proposed on the basis of morphological similarities and until now few phylogenetic analyzes have tested its validity. From this we propose to analyze the combined evidence (molecular and morphological) by the parsimony method for family Craugastoridae (except genus Pristimantis). This analysis focused on testing the validity of these groups and genus, for which the morphology as evidence has not yet been implemented. With this we intend to establish hypothesis of phylogenetic relationships that allow understanding of the evolutionary history of this diverse family. (AU)
