Bovine mastitis in postpartum: evaluation of the immune response and the application of preventive measures

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate changes in immune response and in the transition period and associate them the incidence of mastitis, as well as evaluating the adoption of measures for the control of mastitis given by dry cow therapy and the use of internal teat sealant in the incidence mastitis in postpartum period. Animals that receive base therapy dried over anhydrous Cefalonium, animals receive sealing caps of the base bismuth subnitrate and animals which did not receive any treatment thus, 30 cows are evenly divided into three groups, namely be used control. Samples of colostrum and milk will be collected for bacteriological examination, automatic somatic cell count, differential leukocyte count, California Mastitis Test, and milk components - protein, lactose, fat, total solids. In addition, blood samples for the evaluation of neutrophil oxidative metabolism and quantification of immunoglobulins are collected. (AU)
