Dental implant surface treatments are applied in order to increase the roughness or improve chemotaxis to optimize osseointegration. Despite the clinical success of dental implants, it is known that titanium nanoparticles can be released into the peri-implant tissue after insertion into bone. Thus, macrophages are the first cells interacting with the particles, triggering an intracellular oxidative stress and stimulates an inflammatory process. This inflammation can modulate cervical bone resorption around dental implants. In this context, it is important to assess cell bioactivity in this inflammatory process that occurs upon contact with nanoparticles of titanium. The objective of this project is to analyze the behavior of macrophages against the presence of nanoparticles of titanium. To evaluate oxidative stresses caused will be performed a reducing test compound diclorofluorescina diacetate (DCFH -DA). The expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines will be assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Additionally be used transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to visualize the incorporation of titanium nanoparticles by cells. (AU)
