Abstract

The sempre-vivas are increasingly commercially exploited, both nationally and internationally plants. However, most are endemic to Brazil and some species are at serious risk of extinction. The major difficulty in studying chemically extracts of these species is the low mass offered to perform of step phytochemical and to obtain mass quantities necessary to carry out the biological assays and often even to the identification of the molecule by spectroscopic methods. However, studies of the chemical species must be continued since there are hundreds of species without studies. The Coupled to the Diode Array Detector (HPLC -PDA) High Performance Liquid Chromatography has provided a qualitative study of plant extracts and quantitiativo quickly, efficiently and with little use for mass analysis way. Our research group has studied species Eriocaulaceae for over two decades, resulting in the isolation and identification of a hundred molecules, some existing ones in the literature with antioxidant, cytotoxic, anti-ulcer, anti-inflammatory properties, bowel diseases, ulcerative colitis and unpublished Crohn´s Disease. Thus, this plant family has an interesting chemical, comprising biologically active molecules. Therefore, this project aims to study the polar extracts of chapters, scapes and leaves Actinocephalus divaricatus belonging to Eriocaulaceae by coupled HPLC-PDA technique, allowing a quick and effective qualitative and quantitative analysis, allowing the identification of existing metabolites in extracts polar species proposed for study in this research project.
