This project proposes a study of the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children, and the relation between psychiatry/mental health, family, school, and childhood in France, especially in Paris. Its main objective is to confront the results of this study and those obtained from field research in Brazil. We also expect to collect some elements that allow questioning the notion of medicalization found in some Brazilian studies about ADHD. This project is linked to the PhD research named, ina provisory manner, "Social contexts, strategies of power, and strategies of resistance in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)", which is in development since 2012 under FAPESP process number 2012/20776-0. To achieve its goal, I will integrate the research group linked to the Centre de recherche, médecine, sciences, santé, santé mentale, société (CERMES 3), localized in Paris, and formed by the cooperation between Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale (Inserm), Université Paris Descartes (Paris V), and École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). That group's general objective is the sociological and descriptive study of the journeys of children considered overactive and/or inattentive, and the social and medical relations concerning them.
