Construction of a computational module in EMSO suit to simulate and assess a BIGCC cycle (Biomass Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle)

Abstract

This master degree project is part of the thematic project Simulation of Sugarcane Biorefinery of 1º Generation in EMSO Platform (FAPESP Process 2011/51902-9) and will develop a computational algorithm to simulate the thermodynamic behavior of a cogeneration system based in a BIGCC Cycle (Biomass Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle) in EMSO platform. The algorithm will involve the thermodynamic modelling of main equipment that compose the BIGCC cycle (gasifier, gas turbine, steam turbine, HRSG (heat recovery steam generator), etc. This computational module will be complete the main program to simulate the virtual biorefinery. The methodology to analysis the cycle is based in energetic, exergetic and exergetic cost analysis. The thermodynamic modelling of equipment behavior of cogeneration system will be performed to assess the components in design and off-design conditions. The results obtained in this modelling will allow to determine the fuel consumption, steam and electricity production, irreversibility generated and exergy-based cost of the products of biorefinery. The algorithm validation will perform by information from literature and comparison with software Thermoflex®. (AU)
