Abstract

Unmanned aircraft systems are a specific type of critical embedded system that has been the subject of research in recent years. In these systems, when failures occur whatsoever, high value assets are placed at risk, and in some cases even human lives. Due to this high criticality, develop improvements to these systems in order to increase the safety of those becomes a topic of importance in the area. This research project seeks to effect a review of procedures for handoff in IPv6 networks to assist in identifying those who have lower latency and low packet loss during operation, aimed at increasing the effectiveness of overall communication in these systems. For this, some handoff techniques in literature are tested in practice and, from the results, comparisons and performance evaluations are presented. Moreover, at the end of the project, a discussion of which procedures are best suited for handoff scenarios of the avionics is presented, allowing the conclusions of this project are incorporated in the design of larger projects.
